Windy morningStarted off the day trying to help a LS member who has been having a very tough time acclimating himself to both the game and a lot of concepts in general.  Another LS member started to head over to join his party and I changed to SCH11 so that we could participate in the place everyone loves to hate: the dunes.  However, upon my arrival and party invite I noticed he had already filled the party, despite the other LS member still having not arrived.  I dropped out so that she could join and found myself way out in the dunes needing to run anywhere if I wanted to do anything else.  So I tossed up my party flag and figured if someone grabbed me before I got out of there then I’ll stay and level.  Oh, how I should’ve ran off quietly.

Within a minute I had an invite but it took over four hours to accumulate enough experience for one level’s worth.  One level.  On the bright side I never died, but I did get to watch almost every other member of our party do so despite having a PL there the entire time.  Yes, even with a PL there with us we were subjected to constant deaths and so much wasted time doing nothing.  I was honestly a little angry at the party for having wasted my time so, but it did get me to sweep, vacuum, and dust the first two floors of my house while I waited for them to finally do something.

Crawler's NestAfter that failure I ran off to finally get something worthwhile done and hopped back on SMN.  I announced I was going Yag Necklace hunting and had a fellow LS member say she needed that and was going to run over.  Within five minutes of having changed my job and still not gotten to Giddeus I recieved a party invite and took that instead.  I thought I told my LS I wasn’t going out to Yagudo land anymore but I apparently failed (I swear the rest of the day must’ve rubbed off on me) and then felt really bad because she had only been going over there to help me.  I still need to think of a way to make that up, I feel like kind of a dick for ditching her like that.

On a more positive note, that turned into my first trip into Crawler’s Nest and we had a good, solid party that moved nicely.  We weren’t pulling in as much experience as would’ve been nice but I’m always a fan of progress as long as the wheels are turning, so I was happy to finally pull up to SMN38.  Three more levels and I can start thinking about getting myself a nice, awesome SMN-only staff.

Checking out Ramuh for the first time

On Saturday I got all kinds of stuff done, which made me plenty happy regarding Vana’Diel.  I started off the day popping the NM I’d been trying for ten hours to make appear, a Yara Ma Yha Who of Tahrongi Canyon who dropped a Fasting Ring for me.  That makes for the first time I’ve successfully tried to hunt down and kill an NM for a drop and gotten it, and also means I at last have two MP+ rings even if my other one is still kind of weak.

Following that up I continued to farm out those Yagudo and got myself up to 100/200 necklaces, so while I didn’t meet my expected goal of finishing off what I need for Norg fame I did then get help in obtaining Ramuh.  Since my Windy fame was up to snuff a pair of kindly souls in the linkshell took him down for me, which leaves me with only one primary avatar missing.

Cool runningI then got to run through Ranguemont Pass by myself for the first time, as I’d only been there once before when a SMN/BLM led me through for the ice weather I needed for my own SMN quest.  With no map for that place nor the next I ran a little blind through a about the first fourth of Beaucedine Glacier, and then got an escort for the remainder of it so that I could participate in my second Shiva fight.  It was successful thanks to the same helping hands that got me Ramuh, giving me my first of six whispers needed to prepare the Fenrir fight.

Really, quite the successful day for this Hume.

Waiting for RamuhWaiting for Shiva.

Dancing machineSo I finally got to do some DNCing and it frankly seems like the best thing ever that could happen to me with PUP.  I spent part of Friday night getting this up to level seven and after getting to use Drain Samba I’m totally hooked.  Normally I’m healing or support way off in the back row, so I’ve never even gotten the side effects of it before, but as soon as I get back into DD I am so all over this.  But I really do need to concentrate on SMN, so the only reason I’ll be getting it higher anytime soon is to finally get rid of some of my low-level equipment.  Unless, naturally, I finally unlock COR and BLU which means then both of those would have to go through the same motions… ach.  Ah well, 30 more levels before I can retire DNC will be waiting for me in the future.

Altepa fighting

Went out and tried to work on Yag Necklaces but I got a party invite, and even though I didn’t have my flag up I decided to join them.  This was my first time actually doing anything in Altepa, as my only previous experience had been getting stealthed through so that I could solo kill Garuda.  The party moved fairly slow and experience was only a trickle, but I still managed to get a level out of it and some skillups so that wasn’t a big deal to me.

Windurst's YggdrasilAfterwards the most helpful Mithra ever assisted me in loading up on Cornettes and we finished off my current needed Windurst fame, actually pushing it past my goal of six and into seven. I grabbed my key item Lightning Tuning Fork for future preperation, but no help was available at the moment so Ramuh will have to wait for another day.  At least I still have the mini one for teleporting.

Comet in the past

With that done and no longer really in the mood to kill Yagudo, I decided to finish off unlocking DNC, so I headed into the past and tried out Invisible.  Hot damn is it fantastic having that for myself and not having to rely on/bug other people to get myself through areas I shouldn’t be in.  I had also been hoping to get to the Cavernous Maw that was down there but an unexpected wall blocked my path so I put it off for now.

Seer's gear go!Then to cap off the night I bought myself a new chest piece of a Seer’s Tunic and an Eremite’s Wand.  I’m still debating about whether I should keep the latter, in the vein of that should I purchase a grip for my old staff I’d have +11MP more whereas the club has +2INT, +2MND and reduction for spell interruption.  I suppose if I had a better selection for off-hand this wouldn’t be much of an issue.

Yagudos are learning to fear my SMN staff style, it reaches deep into their hearts and sits there, haunting their dreams.  Smacking them around got my count up to 60/200 necklaces, so I should be done with Norg fame this week one way or another.  Also got an Aspir Knife for when I start up DNC to compliment PUP thanks to a certain friendly PLD, though it’s probably a while off before I’ll use it.  I’m pretty happy to finally be farming things that will actually drop, as opposed to the NMs I’d been doing which were rare spawns and rarer drops.  Didn’t get anything from those attempts, overall had a couple of wasted days doing that.

I was then recruited for some linkshell Kazham leveling, as I’m hoping to get my WHM high enough up as to start teleporting.  Only got one level, but since we obtained a PL due to having some terrible pick-up members I turned it into a skill-up party for myself and boosted my Divine and Enfeebling by a good amount.  Routinely going up 0.4 and 0.5 off Divine casts probably says something about how long its been since I’ve tried to level that.  I suppose this is prepping for the one day when I might get to obtain Holy, though that isn’t really something I’m after.

Also, I finally got to Raise people for the first time. Now I just need to get around to doing something that requires Invisible, which will probably be getting DNC.

Smacking Yagudo, rock style!Yesterday was spent in the splendor of fame raising, an incredibly successful setup that performed better than I’d hoped.  Millioncorn was on sale in San d’Oria, which is by far the easiest and quickest city to heft it from, allowing me to ride out and Warp back to boost Bastok and San d’Oria to level six in no time.  I got help with Windurst fame as Bastok was luckily in second place, with my partner positioning himsef so as to constantly feed my mailbox with Cornettes.  I rose two ranks in about an hour, leaving me two more to polish off hopefully tonight.

As that finished I was lucky enough to have some LS members already farming Yagudo necklaces, so I popped right over and we busted out 36/200 for me.  Some insistence on my poor manner of upgrading outfits occured and it was determined they would help me raise the money for better clothes.  One of them also agreed to help me on finishing off the fame runs, which will allow me to recruit help for my remaining needed avatars.  Ramuh and Leviathan shall soon be mine, then I can begin a full round for Fenrir  Suprisingly successful, all things considered.
